Five days in Finnish Lapland give the Arctic time to get under your skin. Stay in a cosy wooden cottage by the river at Muotkan Ruoktu, near Inari, with a warm fireplace in our main house just a short walk away. Each day brings one authentic Arctic adventure, rather than a rush of activities.
Meet a Sámi reindeer herder and his herd, cross frozen lakes on a snowmobile safari and search for the Northern Lights from a traditional wooden sledge – or simply look up from your cottage, in one of Lapland’s prime aurora-viewing locations. Between adventures, there’s time for a Finnish sauna, a good book, doing absolutely nothing or exploring the peaceful Arctic wilderness.
It’s a Lapland winter holiday the way we love it: small groups, unhurried adventures, genuine local experiences and a little wilderness village where you arrive as a guest and leave as a friend.
